Studio

I am excited to work with you in-person, taking all necessary precautions during the covid-19 pandemic, or remotely. I am a certified online educator with extensive experience teaching individual sessions and group classes across multiple online platforms.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons

Whether you are studying voice, conducting, or acting with me, I use a holistic approach to help you hone every aspect of your technique. I work alongside students of all ages and levels of expertise to help them develop their creative voice, cultivate sustainable practice habits, and perform with confidence.

Each session is customized to help you achieve your musical goals. All prospective students begin with a friendly, complimentary 25-minute introductory lesson to talk about your experiences and future goals, perform a few easy exercises, and make a plan for the future. For students who thrive learning in conjunction with others, I offer the option of a semi-private lesson arrangement. Students meet in intimate groups of 2-3, working on individual goals in a supportive environment with their peers.

Lessons are typically 30 or 60 minutes. Discounts are offered for purchasing a package of lessons. Please contact me for pricing, availability, and with any other questions.

Performance Coaching

I regularly collaborate with performers who are preparing for auditions and performances, coaching artists of all levels so they can align their rehearsal/practice routines with their ideal performance outcomes. If you’re hoping to land that lead in a production, gain acceptance to a college music program, or reach new levels of performance in your art, performance coaching is for you.

As with lessons, coachings are typically offered in 30 or 60 minute appointments.

My approach to studio teaching

Our lessons together are all about you. My approach is flexible and centered on who you are and what you bring. Your goals are important to me, and my role is to help you become a better artist each time we interact. No genre, style, or language is out of bounds!

I’m serious about technique. I constantly consult emerging research in arts education, science, and psychology in order to give you a dynamic experience in the studio. I draw on years of yoga practice and Alexander Technique study to encourage artists to find a balanced and energized body alignment, no matter what craft they are studying. I believe in the value of self-reflective practice, and together we investigate which techniques work for you and why. No matter what repertoire you choose to explore, I want to empower you to make decisions that result in efficient, consistent, healthy performing, now and in the future.

Artistry is equally important. As a performer, your technique and artistry are intertwined. We find ways to strengthen your physical technique and your ability to express yourself. We play with storytelling, movement, and facial expression. Our creative actions in the studio aim to propel you into new dramatic discoveries, so that you can connect to your audience with vulnerability and authenticity.

I have 17 years of experience working with students, professionals, and avocational performers from ages 2 to 90 to achieve their performance goals. I hold multiple degrees in music performance and music education, with specializations in voice, choral conducting, and adult learning environments. I am a member of professional organizations such as the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and Chorus America and regularly publish and present at the regional, national, and international level. I love working with students who want to challenge themselves. I am eager to support you in your artistic journey!
